Deoxys: The Ultimate Specialist
How one Mythical Pokémon achieves four completely different competitive identities with the same base stat total.
I've heard Deoxys has multiple forms. What makes them different?
Deoxys is one of the most unique Pokémon ever designed. It has four forms - Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed - and here's the twist: they all have exactly 600 Base Stat Total. But the distributions are radically different.
Look at those shapes. Attack form spikes to 180 in both Attack and Special Attack, but collapses to just 20 in both defenses. Defense form is the mirror opposite - 160/160 bulk but only 70/70 offenses. Speed form maxes Speed at 180 while keeping everything else moderate. Same budget, completely different builds.
How does Attack Deoxys compare to other offensive powerhouses?
It's tied for the single highest combined offense in the entire game.
360 combined Attack + Special Attack. The only other Pokémon that matches this is Mega Rayquaza - a Mega Evolution of a 680 BST legendary. Deoxys Attack achieves the same offensive ceiling with 80 fewer total stats to work with.
What about Speed Deoxys? How fast is it?
Second fastest in the entire game.
180 Speed puts it behind only Regieleki (200). Notice that Normal Deoxys and Attack Deoxys also appear on this list at 150 - they're fast too. But Speed form takes it to another level, while keeping balanced 95/95 offenses and 90/90 defenses. It's the most "usable" Deoxys form competitively.
You mentioned Attack Deoxys has paper-thin defenses. How bad is it really?
It's the most extreme glass cannon among high-powered Pokémon. Let me show you offense vs defense for the top offensive threats.
See that point in the bottom-right corner? That's Attack Deoxys - 360 offense but only 40 combined defense. Every other top-tier offensive Pokémon has at least 100+ combined defenses. Most have 150-250. Attack Deoxys is literally in a class by itself for the "hit hard and hope you don't get hit back" strategy.
Are other Mythical Pokémon this specialized?
Not even close. Most Mythicals follow the Mew template - balanced stats across the board.
The other Mythicals cluster in a narrow band. Deoxys forms create those wild crossing lines - Attack shoots high on offense and crashes on defense, Defense does the opposite, Speed dominates that axis. No other Pokémon, Mythical or otherwise, offers this level of form-based customization. You're essentially getting four different Pokémon with one Pokédex entry.
